The platform allows traders to instantly open, close, and edit individual and aggregate positions quickly and easily in just a few clicks. Traders can place a trade without leaving their chart. The platform also boasts smart settings which allows users to trade faster, remembering positions sizes, stop values, and much more. Traders can set their stop loss and take profit levels before placing a trade. Stop loss and take profit can be adjusted on the chart or edited in the positions tab. If a trader wants to initiate a trade a specific price level, a trader can place an order for a trade to open once the price level is reached.

IG Trading platform is packed with tons of technical indicators and drawing tools readily available for users and very easy to apply to charts. Get Breaking News via Reuters and Twitter
For those Forex Traders that trade based off of news events and releases, IG Trading Platform supports and receives breaking news events via Reuters and Twitter directly fed into the platform. Not only can IG traders receive breaking news events in their own dedicated section of the platform, but traders can also place News Events directly on their charts, providing them with an accurate and visual representation of when News Events occur and how they can potentially influence the market.
As for news events on the IG Trading Platform, traders can also open an Economic Calendar. The Economic Calendar gives traders a direct look into news events occurring around the globe. Giving them the ability to filter based of specific countries, impact of the event, estimated, previous, and actual numbers related to the news releases and also the ability to configure alerts based off specific events.
Traders also have the ability to receive trading advice based off the Signals Tabs. Trading signals are technical analysis tools used to help traders identify market trends and patterns based off pricing data and news events provided by IG as well as 3rd party charting administrators. The feature is free to all account holders and shows a range of trading suggestions, including entry, stop and target levels; explanatory charts and expert commentary. Custom Alerts and Notifications
The IG Trading Platform strives to keep traders on top of their execution. As mentioned previously, traders have the ability to configure alerts based off news events. Not only can traders configure these alerts, but they also have the ability to configure specific alerts based off price changes, specific price levels, and even indicators! While configuring such alerts on the mobile version of the IG Trading Platform, traders can choose whether they would like to receive notifications immediately by email, SMS text, or push notifications. This makes keeping a closer eye on the markets you’re interested in along with your personalized watchlist extremely simple and straight forward.
Customize Workspaces to suit your Trading
Whether you are a newcomer or a forex trading veteran, you will be pleasantly surprised with the user interface and design of the IG Trading Platform. Majority of the interface is completely customizable, with a simple drag and click of your mouse, the platform can be changed to what you see fit. The IG Trading Platform offers a completely customizable workspace tab, where traders can add their watchlists, charts of currency pairs of their choosing, open positions, news alerts and more. Traders can view all FX pairs in one tab or the platform breaks them down into groups of Major, Minor, Australasian, Scandinavian, Exotic and Emerging Markets. If a trader wants to view pairs that don’t fall under the same category, they can create their own custom watchlist. The search function contained within majority of the platform’s widgets make finding the symbols you’re interested in a breeze! Placing orders can be done with just several clicks and activating one-click trading makes placing orders efficient and instant. Staying on top of the market and news events becomes much easier with the IG Trading Platform’s built in alerts, news feed, and customizable watchlist.
Smart Settings that remember your Position Sizes and Stop Values
Finally, keeping track of your trading account can be done directly through the platform main page. Simply take a glance at the top of your window for all account related information such as funds, profit/loss, margins, available balance, equity, and equity used. Traders can also view all open positions and edit positions by clicking on the Positions tab. This page, that can be added to the customizable workspace.
Mobile App
IG’s apps follow the same intuitive, user friendly design of their web platform. IG Trading Platform apps follow the same simplistic design and easy navigation. The app opens to the Watchlists tab, which shows customized watchlists along with preset ones of Popular Markets, USD Pairs, EUR Pairs and Recently Traded. Across the bottom there are five tabs: Watchlists, Trades, Markets, Alerts and More. This simple layout that complements the web platform makes it easy to pick up where you left off. Any customized watchlists, open trades and alerts appear in those tabs. The More tab provides access to other features like Inbox, Calendar, History, Settings, Accounts and more. After clicking a FX pair, a trader is a click away from viewing the chart or market info and two clicks away from trading, setting an alert or adding the pair to their watchlists. The IG app platform is not just for iPhone and Android but tablets as well. Between IG’s web platform and apps it is easy to trade on the go.
MetaTrader 4
IG also offers it users access to MetaTrader 4, often called MT4. Configuring with MT4 gives access to enhanced features such as 18 customizable add-ons and additional indicators, all at IG’s competitive pricing. MT4’s technical indicators include Renko blocks, pivot points and Autochartist. MT4 also supports news add-ons like DailyFX. IG provides MT4 download through their site.
DailyFX
DailyFX, a leading news site for forex trading news, owned by IG Group. DailyFX offers news, analysis, indicators, charts and daily and weekly webinars. Their news alerts are integrated in IG Trading Platform’s news section.
IG offers 24-hour support customer support. They can be contacted through chat, email or by the phone. Being able to reach a customer support by phone is rare for forex brokers and can be extremely helpful when help is need immediately.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed IG Trading Platform due to its simplistic, yet intricate design. At first glance the platform may appear simple, but that is far from true. This platform packs quite a punch in regard to the amount of features it contains. Not to mention it can be accessed directly from the web, providing traders with the ability to pick up right from where they left off, no matter what device they open the platform from.
